A dermatologist is the medical expert you should consult if you have any significant problem with your skin. Dermatology is the science that is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer and other diseases of the skin, hair and nails.

A dermatologist has a minimum of 13 years of training. At KM Surgical we have three fully trained specialist dermatologists who have extensive training on the diagnosis of skin cancer, performing full skin checks of moles and lesions.  We also specalise in medical dermatology including the management of eczema in all age groups.

KM Surgical have purpose built theatres with (HEPA) filtration and onsite pathology facilities for micrographic surgery (Mohs).  All our skin surgery is performed in our theatres and we meet day stay surgical standards. KM Surgical gives recognition to the importance of a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.

Surgical Excision

Surgical excision is aimed at completely removing a skin lesion. This can either be a proven or suspected skin cancer, or a benign (harmless) lesion that is excised for medical or cosmetic reasons. At KM Surgical our focus is on optimal aesthetic outcomes.

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

PDT is used for superficial skin cancer, solar keratoses and for facial rejuvenation. Allumera® is a light-activated cream designed to improve the overall appearance of skin by acting as a photodynamic cosmetic agent.

Skin Biopsy

Sometimes your dermatologist may wish to take a skin biopsy to get more information about your skin condition or lesion. This may assist with making correct diagnosis or deciding what the best treatment option is for you. Biopsies are undertaken with local anaesthetic.

Mole & Lesion Management

Abnormal or unsightly moles and other skin lesions can be treated by our dermatologists in a number of ways ensuring best outcomes with accurate diagnosis.

UVB Phototherapy

UVB is short for ultraviolet B, a part of the light spectrum that has anti-inflammatory effects on your immune system and is useful for treating many conditions like psoriasis and eczema. At KM Surgical our phototherapy lamps are narrowband at 312nm for optimal safety.

Genesis Plus™ Laser Treatment - Fungal Nails

GenesisPlus™ is a Nd:YAG 1064nm laser that has been cleared by the FDA to be both a safe and effective solution for the treatment of nail infection (onychomycosis).

Cosmetic/Surgical Excision

Cosmetic surgical excision is aimed at completely removing or improving a skin lesion. Many different options are available to a cosmetic dermatologist to achieve optimal results where a practical and aesthetic due is essential.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen to treat superficial skin lesions such as actinic keratoses and benign conditions such as viral warts, seborrhoeic keratoses and solar lentigines (age spots).
